Precautions of Replacing the Thyristor or Rectifier

When we replacing the disc type thyristor or rectifier, the following issues should be noted:

1. The first thing should pay attention to is the contact areas of the device two sides as well as the top and bottom contact area of the heatsink. Any pits, burrs or articles…etc on the surface which will affect the cooling performance, must be removed or wiped out.

2. The surface of the heatsink must be flat, if there is oxide layer, concave or edge found on surface, milling flatten is required while sanding by sand paper is not recommended. That’s good for electrical and thermal conduction.

3. When replacing the device, it must be placed upright to match with the original slot to realize the normal electrical and thermal conduction. And at the same time, only when it is placed upright, the pressure will be straight not biased to damage the device.

4. The pressure should be sufficient, it is suggested to apply a little butter on the tip of the top edge, so that the force can be fully transmitted to the device, which benefit the electrical and thermal conduction.

5. For cooling the thyristor or rectifier is recommended to use the water cooling heatsink manufactured by Jiangsu Yangjie Runau Semiconductor Co. Please consult the company for more details to select a suitable and proper heatsink.
